Syllabi

Terms of Service

The agreement between you and Syllabi (also serving as our end-user licence agreement).

Last updated: 1 June 2026

Please read these terms carefully. By creating an account or using Syllabi, the account holder agrees to them on behalf of themselves and the student(s) they add.

1. The service

Syllabi provides live, online group tutoring for UK secondary-school students (Years 7–11). Lessons are delivered as scheduled live video classes, supported by chat with tutors and Student Success Managers (SSMs), practice activities and assessments. We may add, change or remove features to improve the service.

2. Eligibility and accounts

  • The account holder must be 18 or over and must be the parent or legal guardian of any student added to the account.
  • The account holder is responsible for the student's use of the service and for keeping login details secure. Do not share your password.
  • You agree to provide accurate information and to keep it up to date.
  • We may suspend or close accounts that breach these terms or that we reasonably believe are being misused.

3. Acceptable use

You and the student agree to:

  • behave respectfully towards tutors, staff and other students in lessons and chat;
  • use the service only for genuine learning, and not to harass, bully or harm others;
  • not record, copy, redistribute or publish lessons, materials or other users' contributions without our written permission;
  • not attempt to disrupt, hack, scrape or gain unauthorised access to the service.

4. Subscriptions, billing and cancellation

  • Tutoring is provided on a recurring subscription basis. Payments are taken by our payment processor, Stripe; we do not store your card details.
  • Auto-renewal. Unless cancelled, the subscription renews automatically each billing period and the saved payment method is charged at the start of each period.
  • How to cancel. The quickest way to cancel is to message us on WhatsApp at +44 7361 594536; you can also email admin@syllabi.co.uk. Cancellation stops future renewals; you keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for, unless agreed otherwise. Deleting your account does not cancel your subscription — please cancel separately using the contact above.
  • Cancellation rights (Consumer Contracts Regulations). As a UK consumer buying online, you normally have a 14-day right to cancel a new subscription for a refund. Because our service starts quickly, if you ask us to begin tutoring within that period you agree we may start straight away; if you then cancel within the 14 days, we may charge for the part of the service already provided.
  • Refunds. Outside the statutory cancellation period, fees already paid are generally non-refundable except where required by law or where we agree otherwise. Please contact support to discuss any refund request.
  • Price changes. We will give reasonable notice of any change to subscription pricing before it takes effect, so you can cancel if you do not wish to continue.

5. Intellectual property

All lesson content, materials, software and branding are owned by Syllabi or its licensors. We grant the account holder and their student(s) a limited, personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to access and use the service and its materials for the student's own learning for the duration of the subscription. All other rights are reserved. Work that a student submits remains theirs; they grant us permission to use it as needed to provide marking, feedback and the service.

6. Disclaimers and liability

We work hard to provide a high-quality service, but we cannot guarantee particular exam results or academic outcomes. The service is provided on a reasonable-efforts basis and may occasionally be unavailable for maintenance or due to factors outside our control (including third-party providers such as Zoom).

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability where it would be unlawful to do so — including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for your statutory rights as a consumer. Subject to that, we are not liable for losses that are not a foreseeable result of our breach, or for losses unrelated to our provision of the service.

7. Privacy and children's data

Our use of personal data — including children's data and how we obtain verifiable parental consent — is explained in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.

8. Termination and account deletion

You may stop using the service and delete your account at any time. The fastest way is in the app: open Profile and choose Delete account. Full details, including what is removed and what we are legally required to keep, are on our account deletion page. We may also terminate or suspend access if you seriously or repeatedly breach these terms.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction over any dispute. This does not affect your mandatory rights as a consumer in your country of residence.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time — for example, to reflect changes to the service or to the law. When we make a significant change we will update the "last updated" date above and, where appropriate, tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. If you continue to use Syllabi after a change takes effect, you accept the updated terms.

11. General

  • Severability. If any part of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the rest of the terms continue to apply.
  • No waiver. If we do not enforce a right under these terms straight away, we can still enforce it later.
  • Assignment. You may not transfer your rights or obligations under these terms without our consent. We may transfer ours (for example, if our business is reorganised) without reducing your rights.
  • Entire agreement. These terms, together with our Privacy Policy, form the whole agreement between you and Syllabi for your use of the service.
